Que Derry isn’t your average R&B artist. This Beaumont, TX native was practically born singing, gracing church stages by the age of 2 under the watchful eye (and encouraging ear) of his grandmother. Growing up, his musical tapestry was woven with threads of soul-stirring quartet harmonies from the Canton Spirituals, Rev. John P Kee, and the Violinaires, intertwined with the rhythmic swagger of DJ Quik, Master P, and Texas legends like Big Moe and Z-Ro. On a smoother tip, R&B caught his ear through singers like K-Ci Hailey, D’Angelo, Tank, Charlie Wilson and Static Major. Music was his birthright – a gift passed down through generations of his talented family.
But life doesn’t always follow a straight melody. Football took center stage for a while, pushing music to the background. Yet, the fire never truly died. A high school talent show reignited the flame, with Que Derry belting out Playa’s “Cheers 2 U” and reminding himself of the joy music brought. That single performance sparked a journey that led him across the country, collaborating with major artists and becoming a behind-the-scenes powerhouse. His music has graced over 2,000 placements on platforms like Netflix, Amazon Prime, and HBO, painting the soundtrack to countless lives.
